Pair of Antique Glass Rinsers - Early 19thC
Fine pair of early 19thC Wine Glass Rinsers - or Chillers
In the late Georgian period it was the custom when dining to rest wine glasses in water between courses to rinse them. The stem of the glass would be supported by the lip of the rinser. They were also used with ice to chill glasses for white wine.
This pair of cut glass fluted Rinsers are in particularly nice condition. There are no chips or cracks and only a slight scratch to the base of one glass (seen on photo 4 at 6 o antique clock position)
Plucking the rims reveal a blemish free clear glass ring tone.
The bases are slightly concave with small bubbles from the hand blowing process.
