Pair of French portrait paintings dated 1901. In oil on identically proportioned oval canvasses. A prosperous looking bourgeois couple, note the gold mounted ruby at the centre of the gentleman’s bow tie and his gold shirt studs, both wearing medals or badges of office on their left breast. Inscribed on the rear as souvenirs of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and dated 22nd July 1901. In excellent condition, presented unframed on the original stretchers.
