Here we have a very stylish pair of small Danish Silver Plated Dwarf Candlesticks from the around the 1950s / 1960s. The candle holders have a rounded octagonal base that slopes up to a flat circle from which the sconce rises. The rim of the sconce is also a rounded octagon. They are designed for small candles.

The candlesticks are made by Hans Jensen & Co. Founded in Copenhagen in 1899, they moved to Aarhus around 1937 and remained in business until 1970. They made silverware, antique jewellery and silver plate.

Condition of the two candlesticks is very good with no dings or dents, no plate loss and only the superficial surface wear you would expect after over 50 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The candlesticks are 5.5cm / 2.1" across the base and 2.5cm / 0.9" high. The candles in the photo, which fit perfectly, are 1.2cm in diameter and unburnt they are 10cm tall. They are readily available from online retailers.

The marks on the underside of the base are crisp and clear to read. They show the fish mark, which was the standard mark for Hans Jensen silver plate, the HJ makers' mark for Hans Jensen and a third mark which we haven't been able to identify.
