Extraordinary pair of late 19th.c. Anglo-Indian carved hardwood side chairs c.1890. Densely carved backrest with an image of Brahma set amongst a foliate ground with additional figures and peacocks, topped with three carved figures of Sadhu or holymen. With a solid wooden seat raised on elaborately craved front legs featuring elephants and tigers’ heads and peacocks. The carving continues on a feize running below the seat and down the rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Please contact us for more images, delivery and shipping quotes.
