A wonderful size of biscuit box, rarely found in this larger size. Made from Oak and mounted with silver plated fittings, both the underside of the lid and one of the base fittings is marked for the Birmingham and London silversmith, J.B. CHATTERLEY & SONS LTD.

The top of the lid is mounted with rope finial and an engraved "Biscuits" label.

The interior retains the original creamware ceramic liner, undamaged with minor age crazing and staining.

A fabulous and impressive example in superb condition measuring 6 1/2" in diameter x 6 1/2" tall to top of rim or 11" to top of handle while upright. Victorian in era, dating to c.1890.
