Oil painting on canvas. Period XIX Century
Description: Ancient painting depicting a moment of leisure of French aristocracy (Pilgrimage to Kythera) anonymous French school teacher of the early 19th century, oil on canvas.
The composition of the scene is engaged by various characters, men, women and girls, caught in a joyful picture of daily life animated by the carefree joie de vivre typical of the frivolous and worldly aristocracy.
Our painting is inspired by the so-called "gallant scenes", a pictorial theme that became so prominent in the European pictorial culture already from the first decades of the eighteenth century to the point of having almost the dignity of a pictorial genre.
It reflects a modus vivendi of the high society of the time, accustomed to the pleasures of life, the ease of court well-being, amidst leisure, whims and various delights.
The clothes are those of the eighteenth-century tradition even if the painting was made in the early nineteenth century in an almost nostalgic key.
The canvas is embellished with a beautiful French frame in gilded wood in gold leaf, engraved beat.
Provenance: France (1820/40)
Measures: 125x100cm.
Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
Assistance: We are at your disposal for further clarifications or photographic details
Shipping: throughout Italy, Europe and the rest of the world at very low prices in maximum security and traceable. Shipping will be privately agreed and will not be of high cost.
We wish you a good day.
