LARGE LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS BY LISTED ARTIST DAVID MEAD DEPICTING A LAVISH GREEN AUTUMNAL VIEW WITH CALM POOL PRESENTED IN GILT FRAME 42.5 X 30.5 INCHES
This is a fine large scale oil painting on canvas by the Kentish artist David Mead.
The painting depicts a lavish green and brown autumnal view, with the majority of the trees wearing their autumn leaves, with a majestic oak in the right foreground. Below the trees and to the left of a path, lies a still pool in whose quiet waters the trees are reflected.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
David Mead 1906-1986, was born in London but moved to Whitstable in Kent in 1910, at the age of four. Here he had the good fortune to reside next door to the famous landscape painter Daniel Sherrin, from whom he received guidance and encouragement with his painting. His first watercolours were sold when he was only 12.
He continued to paint and study painting, but it was only after his service in the Air Ministry during WWII, that he became a full time artist, painting landscapes in oils, predominately featuring trees and quiet pools and he excelled at painting trees He was made a Fellow on the Central Institute of Art & Design in 1946.
He founded the Medway Art Society and served as its President for four years.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy and one of his paintings is in Horsham Museum.
A large proportion of his paintings are in private collections.
SIGNATURE
David Mead has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner.
FRAME
Presented within a gilt decorative swept frame in keeping with the period produced.

Image size 35 1/2" x 23 1/2" - 90.1cm x 59.65cm
CONDITION
Very good condition with no repairs to the canvas or paint loss.There is a little minor craquelure.
