Oil painting 'Hay Mill, near Birmingham'
A charming oil on artist's board of Hay Mill near Birmingham now a suburb of Birmingham. The work is technically very good and shows great detail in the animals and buildings. It is a very pleasant Summer's scene and is signed on the reverse J. Jolly with an address, usually indicative of the painting having been exhibited. I can find no reference to the artist which is a mystery as I would have expected them to have exhibited and been recorded, further research might be useful. The painting is in good untouched condition with some light craquelere. The frame is the original and in great untouched condition with the original gilding. The whole is a delightful period painting and ready to hang. C.1890.
