Title 'Winners of Best Average, Season 1929. Bristol & District Tippler & Tumbler Flying Society. Bred and flown by Owner, C.E. Derrett'. The 3 pigeons names, finish position and flying times are shown as follows.
The winner on the far left name is Easter O.B Fly 14 hours 8 mins 30 secs who was First and Cup. In the centre the pigeon name is Whitsuntide O.B. Fly, 15 hours 50mins in second position. Over to the far right the pigeon was called August Y.B. Fly 6 hours 15 mins.
Subject ornithology sporting animal birds portrait of 3 Racing pigeons in side profile 2 are facing left and 1 is facing left. With basic ancestral Rock Dove plumage. The birds colours all have a light grey colour body with 2 black wing bars, a darker head with iridescent green and purple at the neck head area. landscape views in the background, a lake shown in the distance the left and sloping hill on other side with green grass and trees also branches shown, with a mainly cloudy overcast sky with some spots of blue shining through.
An excellent good size with the frame being 79 cm wide and 64 cm high.

Set in a beautiful traditional black ebonised frame.
Signed Andrew Beer by the known British artist William Andrew Beer and dated 1929.
William Andrew Beer (1862-1954) was an English artist, known for painting racing pigeons, in oil on canvas, under the working name of Andrew Beer. A racing pigeon enthusiast himself, he was a judge at competitive pigeon shows. Beer had a studio in Eastville, Bristol, to which the pigeons he was to paint were sometimes sent by train, arriving at the nearby Stapleton Road Station. He typically painted pigeons at near life-size, singly or in small groups, in side-on view, against similar backgrounds. He often included text, noting the pigeons' names and achievements.
His works are in the collections of Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Pontypridd Museum and the Radstock, Midsomer Norton & District Museum Society. He also painted scenes of southern England, which were issued as postcards.
