Oak Gothic Revival Card Table By Charles Bevan Gothic revival oak inlaid %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Mid Victorian Oak and Beech Gothic Revival Fold Over Card Table by Charles Bevan probably for Marsh, Jones and Cribb.
The rectangular top is beautifully faded quarter sawn oak with a nice decorative scalloped edge over a plain frieze with simple dog tooth decoration. It rotates and opens to afford a rectangular playing surface banded with an oak border. Raised on four turned and stained beech? columns down to an X frame oak base with chamfered edges and centred with an inlaid satinwood and ebony motif. All in turn raised on original brass and ceramic castors. Overall lovely condition , we have cleaned and waxed it whilst retaining the original surface and patination.....it is a very nice relaxed colour. An unusual card table and/or a statement, character and decorative side , lamp or hall table.
ENGLISH Circa 1860/1880
