Oak and Silver Plate Biscuit Box / Barrel c.1900 Antique English Oak %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A fabulous and unusual example, this late Victorian biscuit box is made from solid English Oak with carved horn handles and silver plated fittings.

The box stands on three attractive cast feet and the wonderful carved handles are set into silver plated fittings. The front has a shield-shaped mount for personalization by your engraver if desired.

The lid is wonderful, hand engraved with a floral and foliate design, finished with hand-chasing the finial is cast in the form of a charming Squirrel eating an acorn.

The lid lifts to reveal the original ceramic creamware liner, without damage.

Dating to c.1900, it remains in excellent condition spanning 9" handle to handle x 7" x 7 3/4" tall to top of squirrel finial.
