Natural History Nautilus Shell Within a Glass Dome
A late Victorian/ Edwardian cabinet of curiosities' specimen dome with a polished Nautilus shell.
Highly polished Pearl Nautilus shells held a special place in a ‘Wunderkammer’ by collectors and are still fascinating to see. This shell is in very good condition with only natural imperfections and an almost invisible hairline at the opening (see images).
It comes supported by a wooden stand and an original antique glass display dome.
The maximum measurement diagonally across the shell is approx. 20cm circa and the maximum width/thickness is approx. 10 cm.

Diameter 24 cm x 56 cm h
