This is a beautiful painting of a young girl in continental dress superbly executed by the artist on a porcelain plaque. The painting has stunning detail and lovely vibrant colours and is mounted in its original velvet covered frame which is most characterfully rubbed and worn with age. The artist has signed the portrait with his monogram to the right A.P. but interestingly it has the initials PA on the back with the date 1782 as well as the signature F. Samuels.. ? and the date 1900.
The piece measures 21 cms by 16 cms overall including the frame.
