This is a stylish Mid-Century Silver Plated 4 Piece Tea Set. The set consists of a teapot, a hot water jug, a cream jug and a sugar bowl. The style is a distinctively mid-century take on original Georgian shapes. The bases are round with concentric line decoration, which is replicated around the rims. The handles have leaf designs where they join the bodies and the lift off lids have urn style finials.

The set is made in England by D. Cooke and dates to around the 1950s. There is very little information available on this firm but they seem to have been active from the late 1940s to the early 1960s.

Condition is very good with no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teapot is 24.5cm / 9.6ins from spout to handle, 12.5cm / 4.9ins in diameter and 21.5cm / 8.5ins high. The hot water jug is 20.5cm / 8ins from lip to handle, 12.5cm / 4.9ins in diameter and 22.5cm / 8.8ins high. The cream jug is 12.5cm / 4.9ins from lip to handle, 7.4cm / 2.9ins across the top rim and 17.8cm / 7ins high. The sugar bowl is 10.5cm / 4.1ins in diameter and 10.2cm / 4ins high. All together the set weighs in at 1.77kg / 62.4oz.

The undersides of the bases on all four pieces are marked D. Cooke and Made In England.
