Medical Height Measure Stand, Pitch Pine Measuring Stick

Once these along with scales were common place in Chemist Shops and Drug stores, the patient stood on the footprints and for the price of a penny, the boxwood level was lowered on the gauge to the top of the head to accurately measure the height.
A charming piece of piece of our history, the stand is made in pitch pine and in generally good condition, no breaks or other damage and the gold writing is still very clear and easy to read
The overall height of the stand is 88”, it measures people up to 6ft 6 inches and the base is 22” wide and 27” back to front
