Marine Seascape Dutch Manner Print By Thornley
ABOUT THE ARTIST
William Anslow Thornbery ( alias William Thornley (fl. 1858 – 1898) was an English marine painter, born 1847 - died 1907, who mainly painted coastal scenes.
He is generally identified with an artist signing as William A. Thornbery, and sometimes with the artist signing William A. Thornbury in the 1880s. Also known as Hubert and Charles George's Thornberry.
Close in style to Hubert Thornley, who also painted coastal scenes, he was possibly related

This fine example after one of his original watercolour paintings depicts in great detail a view of fishermen on the shoreline in Scarborough Bay, preparing their boats and nets for fishing herring.
This example is most certainly an eye catching marine Seascape, rather similar in style to the 19thc Dutch School and is a sought after work which is hard to distinguish from the artists original watercolour painting and represents an affordable option for enjoying one of his well known paintings

Quality Paster & Gilt 2 inch Swept antique style gallery frame with double card mount under glass.
Fully sealed verso with a smooth hardboard back and neatly finished with brown gum tape.
