Magnificent W Comyns Silver Wedding Box 1910
This is a very special & extremely rare Very Large Edwardian Solid Silver Wedding / Marriage box, known as a table pomander box, crafted by the highly sought after and important Victorian silversmith William Comyns.
The quality is fantastic, with an open pierced work hinged top that has an embossed scene of a Married couple leaving in a horse drawn coach with guests waving them off, and embossed church bells to each side. Surounded by the most beautiful open pireced work of scrolls, flowers and lattice work. To the sides it has embossed flowers, scrolls and foliage. This particular box is rare as it is much larger than even the large pieces measuring in at 19cm as opposed to the regular 13cm, and has 4 cherubs on the hinged cover this is something you do not see on the usual large Comyns boxes.
It is in MINT condition, no dings, dents or repairs at all.
