Luristan Bronze Gazelle Figurine
A small cast figure of a gazelle with curved horns, large eyes and spindly legs. Supplied with a modern Perspex display stand.
Luristan area of western Persia: 1200-600 BC.
Very Fine condition good bronze with light-green patina a thin layer of accretions to parts of the surface
Length 4.6 cms (1.8 ins).
The Luristan peoples were nomadic and animals such as goats, bulls moufflon and gazelle were central to their way of life. The figure was probably a votive offering to some forgotten deity to reflect the importance of their well-being.
All our items are supplied with an illustrated certificate of authenticity (COA) which will act as as a guarantee that all items are authentic and dated to the period stated.
