Very impressive highback tapestry armchair c.1900. Tall backrest and sprung seat upholstered in tapestry covers featuring a scene of fantastical birds and other animals around a fountain surrounded with plants and trees. Remarkable carved beech wood frame with broad scrolling arms on shaped supports and acanthus detail where they join the backrest. Raised on short legs beautifully carved with winged angels at the front, acanthus leaves at the rear and large paw feet all round. Joined with shaped carved and moulded stretchers with a carved fininal at the centre. Excellent condition, the frame has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
