Large pair of c19th French high back armchairs
Unusually large and very comfortable pair of French late c19th high back armchairs with solid carved oak frames and original tapestry upholstery.
The seats are a generous size and the height of the back is good for head supports, so they make for a comfortable pair of chairs, happy to sit in these all evening!
The frames are very well carved and are carved all the way around the frame, so if you were to "free stand" them in the centre of a room, they are finished to the rear. The fabric to the rear is plain rather than full tapestry though.
The tapestry coverings are in good condition with just a little area of wear to one of the seat backs, but this may well clean out...will see how it goes, but looks worse in the photos than it does when you see them for yourself.
The seats have a deep sprung seat which has worn well and still supports well, adding to the comfort level of the chairs!
If you love the chairs, but not the tapestry, I can arrange for them to be re upholstered for you...please get in touch.
Measuring:
43'' or 109cm high
28 1/2'' or 72.5cm wide
27'' or 69cm deep
Height to top of sprung seat is 18 1/2'' or 47cm but does squish down of course
Width of the seat area between the arms is 24'' or 61cm
Delivery to most England, Wales and Scotland addresses at £55 +vat, but please send me your postcode if you are a bit remote or coastal as it could be more...or you are very welcome to collect from me in Uppingham, Rutland Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
