Large Oil on Canvas Painting Sir Edwin Landseer
An extra large oil on canvas painting aft. Sir Edwin Henry Landseer, RA of Return from Hawking measuring 177 x 263 x 12 cm (including frame). The painting depicts a scene near the arched entrance to a stone stairway, a woman on horseback holds a small girl on her lap as a boy holds the horse's head, a man stands ready to help her dismount as three dogs cluster by the horse's legs. The group portrays Lord Francis Egerton (afterwards the Earl of Ellesmere) with his family and Landseer's related painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1837. Presented in a fine gilt effect frame. (frame requires some restoration which can be carried out by our restorer)
