Probably painted in the early years of the 20th Century, this is a very large and extremely fine panoramic moorland landscape painting by the renown Devon painter Charles E Brittan, signed lower left.
Oil on Canvas, over stretchered frame.
Original gilt wood frame.
The painting is in excellent condition. It has had a light professional clean
Charles Edward Brittan lived in Devon and was a very highly regarded landscape painter, particularly of Dartmoor but also Cornwall, Exmoor and Scotland. He held many major London exhibitions in the early years of the 20th Century, notably at the Bond Street Gallery of Ackerman and Son, and Graves Gallery Sloan Square. His work was popular with members of the Royal Family, Dartmoor landscapes being purchased by Queen Mary and the Duke of Windsor. AUTUMN SALE
