Large Framed Classical Print of Dido after Guerin
Artist - Francois Forster (1790-1872) after Pierre Guerin (1774-1833)
Title - Didon
Medium - Print
Details - Classical scene featuring Dido reclining on a sofa with Eros by her side and Aneas sitting opposite on a chair. Titled Didon in large letters below the print, and below the picture on one side is printed 'P. Guerin pinx't' and on the other side is printed 'F. Forster Sculp't'. Printed faintly near to the bottom are the printer's details 'Felix Hermet Imprimeur Editeur, Paris'. Framed in what appears to be its original stained oak frame.
Condition - Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There is some minor discolouration to the print and a couple of spots of foxing (brown spotting). The frame has some scuffing and wear and has some minor shrinkage splitting to the corners.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
