Large English Rocking Horse by Collinson.
A really handsome English "Rocking Horse" by Collinson of Liverpool c. 1940/50. It is in fine condition with the only marks being from a loved toy. Dimensions approx. : 47 inches tall, 54 inches long and 18 inches wide.
Probably the longest-established English rocking horse maker, J. Collinson traces its roots back to Liverpool in 1836. The distinctive rocking horses were produced in great numbers over the years. Most of those which survive date from the postwar era. They are strong, robust.
Most Collinson rocking horses made since the second world war have very distinctive features, which make them easy to identify, such as:
Rectangular (not turned) vertical pillars on the stand
Corduroy saddle tops
Vinyl saddle flaps and saddlecloths
'Pin eyes' made from decorative nails
Diamond shaped hardboard on the top bar of the stand WE CAN BE CONTACTED ANYTIME ON MOBILE 07966 398123
