A large Victorian period oil on canvas Dutch still life. The painting shows a large vase of various flowers with fruit scattered at the base and is typical of the early tradition of still life painting in Holland. The work is bright and vibrant, almost theatrical and is hugely decorative. The painting is mounted in a Victorian period gilt frame and the whole is in good condition, with the painting having been cleaned and some minor old repairs to the frame. The painting is signed but it is illegible. This is a large impressive piece which has a great decorative impact. C.1880.
