Large c.1900 French Giltwood Overmantle Mirror French Mirror Country house mirror
The large rectangular overmantle mirror having the original rectangular heavy glass plate surrounded on three sides by the giltwood beaded frame, the whole showing distress commensurate with age.

The original plate has some foxing but just the right amount to serve for character with a good spread of sparkle. There is some loss to parts of the plaster frame and to the beading and there is no panel back so the reverse is immediate glass plate. Otherwise she is structurally sound and with the addition of a hanger, ready to go.

Overmantle mirrors are a fantastic way of showing a mantelpiece off, due to their lower edge being vacant, though can make any wall or fireplace the central feature in any room.

A substantial and decorative mirror that would provide a huge shot in the arm for a boring wall.
