A magnificent top-quality example of a Black Forest carving of a Terrier, beautifully executed with tremendous detail and two glass bead eyes.

This canine beauty stands on a carved naturalistic base, The head is hinged and retains the original brass hinge once opened, the removable ceramic ink chamber is revealed.

The mouth of the dog is made to slide in and out a small dip pen, this carved bone pen which fits perfectly is included.

An exquisite piece in excellent condition, dating to around 1880. An impressive size measuring 9" x 5 1/4" x 8" tall.
