Stunning very large African Benin bronze maternity statue,c1920. This is a quality casting in the traditional lost wax method, with fine detailing to the face and features. It is an impressive size at 65cm tall and weighs a hefty 25kg.It has great patina following years of handling and overall condition is good in line with age and use. There are the usual casting holes you get with traditional African bronzes and a possible historic repair to one foot but all very minor. An impressive and highly decorative piece of African tribal art.
