Large 19thC Grandfather Farmhouse Armchair
A wonderful 19th Century beech and elm farmhouse armchair of desirable large proportions. Featuring a pretty back splats shaped for comfort, well turned legs and beautifully grained single slab quarter sawn and saddled elm seat.
Strong and stable with outstanding original colour and double stretcher, in exceptional condition. A very comfortable and highly attractive country chair.
This design originated in the Thames valley and was copied around the UK and by many joiner carpenters and due to their comfortable and robust design appeared in a large number of homes especially in West Wales.
Our preferred payment method is by Bank Transfer - BACS, or we are happy to take payment by Cash or Cheque and by PayPal for smaller value items.

Welsh Vernacular is an independent family business run by husband and wife Jonathon and Yvonne Holder. We are the largest and one of the longest established Welsh Antiques businesses in the UK, holding an extensive collection of Country Furniture, Welsh Antiques, Pottery, Treen and Folk Art.
Our stock is carefully selected buy ourselves using over 50 years combined experience. We only buy items that we would be happy to have in our own home ensuring each piece is the very best example of its type, honest, true and desirable.
