A large 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman. Unsigned European School.

The work is well executed with good use of colour and light the waistcoat in particular is of note. There is craquelure throughout and a historic repair to the top of the canvas (please see photographs).

The work is housed in a substantial giltwood frame which is adorned with formed roses to each corner. The frame has wear commensurate with age but remains attractive and very decorative.
