Landscape Oil Painting Scottish Loch & Castle
[ ONE OF A PAIR OFFERED SEPARATELY ]
We offer for sale this very large Scottish Landscape oil painting on canvas depicting a fine Loch view with Castle on the shoreline.
In the far distance is a hilly mountainous terrain which towers over the stillness of the Loch and its seemingly calm and shallow shores.
The near foreground consists of an autumnal rustic bracken and a tree still bearing leaves with a huge outcrop of rock at shore edge.
Manner of F.E.Jamieson.
Jamieson. F. E. fl 1910-1940
The style and manner of this painting raises the possibility it might be an F.E.Jamieson who has signed the painting ‘ Colis ‘ using a pseudonym.
The artist painted in oils and watercolours often depicting Scottish Loch Views in the Highlands and sometimes Coastal scenes.
He was a prolific painter who often signed with pseudonyms such as 'Phil Hips', 'Graham Williams', 'W. Richards' and 'Arnold Pienne' as well as many others.
He traveled widely through out the country between the wars selling his paintings.
His work was often in a more traditional Victorian style and his pictures were reproduced as postcards by Ajelli and Co of London around 1920.
