KR 13" Simon & Halbig Bisque-Head Character Doll
This lovely antique doll dates from approx. 1910. He has a bisque head of lovely quality, and a lovely jointed composition body with wooden ball joints. Moulded into the back of his head is 'KR Simon & Halbig 115/A 34'. We believe that he was made by Simon & Halbig for Kammer & Reinhardt. He has blue glass sleeping eyes that are in good working order, a closed mouth, rosy cheeks and painted facial features. He has a more modern blonde wig that is partially loose. He is wearing a lovely vintage sailor suit with hat, socks and leather shoes.
Condition Overall in very good condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There are no visible chips or cracks to his head. He is overall slightly grubby and would benefit from a careful clean. There is some quite significant glue residue around the top of his head. There is some paint loss to his eyelids. His wig is dishevelled and has some loss. His body is also in very good condition. There is some wear around the ball joints of his body, and some minor cracks in the composition, including a small crack to his back at the neck. There is some rubbing and wear to his hands and feet. His body has some scuffs and marks and there are some minor manufacturing flaws to his body as might be expected. His clothing has some age-related wear and discolouration. His socks are stained. His right-hand shoe is splitting at the back seam and would benefit from restitching.
