Kosta Boda Zebra Vase by Vicke Lindstrand c1950s
Mid-century sommerso style Kosta Boda glass vase by Vicke Lindstrand c1950s. Red body with looped white stripes, encased in colourless glass. Flattened tear-drop body with asymmetric rim. Ground pontil mark to base. Etched signature Kosta LH 1116. The vase measures 13 cm in height, 9.5 cm maximum width and 6 cm depth.
This vase is in very good overall condition commensurate with age. No chips or cracks to the glass. One side with barely visible forming marks to lower body (from original). Minor abrasions to body near the foot – very much more visible in images than when seen by eye. Very minor nibbles to edge of foot – not seen when displayed. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
Kosta glasbruk was founded in 1741 and is one of the world’s oldest operating glassworks. The name Kosta was derived using the first letters from the names of the two founders of the glassworks (Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein). Over time Kosta became Sweden´s leading glassworks, producing a wide range of items from basic glassware to luxury art glass pieces.
Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) worked at Kosta from 1950 to 1973 as artist director. Items signed LH were Lindstrand designs produced as part of a range but were not mass produced. Viewing welcomed - please contact us in advance.
