Keith Alastair Griffin
Offerd is this Superb Marine oil painting by the listed marine artist keith Alastair Griffin.
The painting depicts the tall ship Titania Sailing on the tea run from England to China.
The painting is on canvas and is framed in a gilt frame and is ready to hang.
This superb marine oil ships portrait shows the tea clipper Titania in full sail.
The Titania was built in the Robert Steele's yard for Lowther, Maxton & Co of London in 1866. Registered at 879 tons, she measured 200 feet in length with a 36 foot beam, and these dimensions gave her the strength to carry a large sail plan.

The ships first two sailings were disapointing in regards of speed of passage.
On the ships third voyage returning home from shanghai with a full cargo of tea the captain raced titania home from shanghai in 98 days a fast return sailing. In 1871 she was able to sail from Foochow to London, in 93 days the best passage of her career sailing the teatrade route to the china seas ,after a sucessfull teatrade carreer Titania was sold to the Hudson’s Bay Company in the 1880s, ‘Titania’ ended her days working in the Mediterranean and was finally broken up in 1910.
