Kammer & Reinhardt 13.5" Bisque-Head Child Doll
This lovely antique doll dates from approx. 1910. She has a bisque head of lovely quality, and a lovely jointed composition body with wooden ball joints. Moulded into the back of her head is 'KR Simon & Halbig 117N Germany'. We believe that she was made by Simon & Halbig for Kammer & Reinhardt. She has brown glass sleeping flirty eyes that are in good working order, an open mouth with four teeth, rosy cheeks and painted facial features. She has a vintage long wig (possibly real hair) that is partially unstuck. She is wearing a vintage pink silk-type dress, straw bonnet, white vintage underlip and pantaloons, socks and shoes. She has a small brooch pinned to her dress.
Condition Overall in very good condition, with some wear consistent with age. There are no visible chips or cracks to her head. There is some slight scuffing to her left-hand cheek and a few small grubby marks to her head. There is some quite significant glue residue around the top of her head. There is significant paint loss to her eyelids. Her wig is dishevelled and has some loss. She may have originally had eyelashes, but these are now missing. There is some wear around the ball joints of her body, and some minor cracks in the composition, including to the top of her left-hand arm. Her body has some grubby marks and scuffs. There is some rubbing and wear to her hands and feet and a chip to the big toe of her left-hand foot. Her clothing has some age-related wear and discolouration. Her dress is fragile and is frayed and holed in places. The button on the back of the dress appears to be a replacement. There are some signs of restitching in places. The shoes may be missing a buckle or button from the front.
