This is a lovely winter landscape by the Danish artist Jens Christian Bennedsen, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a small river or stream winding between snow covered banks, with some leafless silver birch trees growing near the water. There are dense woodlands in the background containing pine trees.

Jens Christian Bennedsen (1893-1967) was a Danish artist, who was education at private and technical schools and was a primarily a landscape painter, although he did a few seascapes. His speciality was winter landscapes of which this painting is a prime example. He painted in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.Unfortunately, we have been unable to find any further biographical information about him, as our reference books do not cover Scandinavia.

The painting has been newly framed in a 2 1/2" subtly toned bronze frame, which suits it very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
