Jean Hamilton George Oil Canvas Highlands Cattle
We are pleased to offer this beautifully executed Highland oil on canvas by the artist Jean Hamilton George, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner as shown. The painting depicts a view of a highland loch in Autumn, surrounded by mountains, partially wreathed in mist. There is a small herd of highland cattles watering in the loch.
Jean Hamilton George was born in 1948 in Neath, Glamorgan. At the eraliest opporotunity she entered an art and design course at Newport College of Art, from which she emerged with a first class degree, followed by a higher diploma from the Slade School. She turned professional in 1974, after spending several years making a living doing book illustrations. She specialises in landscape in oils and many of her paintings include rivers, of which there are many in her native Wales.
The painting is framed in a 2 inch, subtly toned, ornate and pierced, swept gilt frame. It will be supplied with all new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
Image size: 19 1/4 x 15 1/8inches - 48.85cm x 38.5cm
Frame size: 23 1/2 x 19 3/4 inches - 59.7cm x 50.15cm
Medium: Oils on canvas
Condition: Very good condition. There is no damage, craquelure or stretcher marks to the canvas, which is clean and taut. We haven't shown the back of the canvas, because there is nothing to see. The frame is also in very good condition with the odd very fine crack that is common with this type of frame, but no losses.
