This auction is for an oil on canvas by the British artist JANICE GORDON, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting was entitled Rough and Smooth, on the label that came with it. The painting depicts a pair of lurchers, which are a type of dog, rather than a pure breed. They are crossbreeds, bred mainly for hunting and are usually part greyhound or other sighthound.

Janice Gordon currently lives in Norfolk and has been painting professionally for 40 years. She is largely self taught and her favourite medium is pastel, followed closely by oils and acrylic. She paints wildlife, livestock, flowers and landscapes and for examples of her work, please visit her website or look her up on google.

She is an Associate Member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and a provisional Member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists. She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, the Pastel Society, the Society of Women Artists and the Armed Forces Art Society.

The painting is framed in a birds eye maple frame with gilt slip, which suits it very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
