Inlaid Mahogany Cupboard by Edwards and Roberts
A splendid inlaid mahogany cupboard, or gentlemans press, by the renowned maker Edwards and Roberts of London. Of fine quality construction using a very high grade of dense Cuban mahogany. The top is cross banded in satinwood , which is replicated to the drawer fronts. The freeze is decorated with garlands of harebells and a central paterae. The cupboard doors are adorned with profuse floral marquetry inlay of the highest quality. This piece of antique furniture provides extensive storage space the central cupboards doors (lockable, key supplied) open to reveal a series of 4 pull-out trays. The cupboards are flanked by two banks of 4 graduated drawers, each fitted with their original brass handles. This item would serve well in a variety of room settings in the modern home, eg dining room, bedroom or living room, potentially as a TV cupboard. We have had it cleaned and waxed in our workshops so it is now offered for sale in excellent original condition with a lovely colour and patina.
