This is a finely executed oil painting on canvas from the circle of Benjamin Blake depicting hanging game. This subject was a regular favourite of Blake who painted for many wealthy landowning patrons. Examples of his work are found in the V&A collection and the Tate as well as many stately homes and other galleries. This painting dates from the early 19th century, around 1810 and is a work of the period of Blake and shows influence closely associated with him and his style. The oils are confident and vibrant and the detail is superb. The painting and canvas are in fine condition and are in a splendid period frame that is again in super order, with its original gilding. This is a substantial statement piece that adds great warmth and charm to an interior and measures 82 cms by 70 cms overall, including the frame.
