Huge monumental Victorian throne hall armchair
This is a monumentally large and impressive throne chair. You need a big hall or reception room to do this justice. The chair is in oak and is continental, probably Dutch or maybe Italian. The chair dates to around 1880 or so. It is superb quality. Just look at the fruit carving down each riser. The chair has an arched back. The arms are scrolled. It stands on square tapering legs with recessed panels in a classical design.
This chair is beautiful. The upholstery is old but clean. Minor nibbles to the frame from usage but no structural damage. The oak is a good polished colour.
If you are after a statement piece then this certainly has the quality and grandness. This is a very impressive chair.
The chair back is 58 inches high!! The seat is 19 inches high. It is 30 inches from outside arm to outside arm and the chair is 27 inches deep
