We are offering this beautifully executed Still Life oil painting on canvas by the Leicestershire artist Howard Shingler, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner H. Shingler. The painting depicts a grouping of items on a wooden table, with an antiques blue and white ewer with classical decoration standing to the right of an arrangement of fruit and vine leaves. There are apples in a bowl, peaches, a slice of melon, a bunch of green grapes, two single cherries, all framed in vine leaves.

Howard Shingler was born in Leicestershire in 1953, and after some years of work in a foundry office, he turned professional in 1984, following his passion for painting. He works principally in oils and his subjects include still life in meticulous detail, landscapes of the English coast and countryside, particularly Lake District scenes, where his moonlight scenes are much to be admired, and wildlife. His works are featured in several galleries, where his larger paintings are priced at over a thousand pounds, and have appeared in collections in various countries in the world. Some of his work is available in print form.

The painting is framed in a 3 1/4" gilt frame and ivory slip and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
