This is a very handsome hand carved mahogany lion dating from the early 19th century, circa 1830. The lion is a stylish and interesting piece carved with his large tongue stuck out and a fine mane, with elongated front legs and paws. There is a curled section of the tail missing to his back but not really that noticeable. The lion is a charming characterful piece that may have been part of a fine cabinet in its earlier life. There is a hanging fitting to the back so this could be either stood on a piece of antique furniture or displayed on a wall.

The lion measures 40 cms in length by 23 cms by 7cm deep.
