A grand large size, measuring 16" x 11 3/4" x 14" tall. The box is made from wonderful Burl Walnut with it's rich dark Cognac colour with a bright patina and is smothered in the finest quality brass mounts, all beautifully engraved. To the front of the drawer has a wonderful flush campaign style handle inlaid, even all the hinges are beautifully engraved only the finest examples would have this detail.

The sides of the box have wonderful swing handles, again wonderfully decorated and the brass straps wrap around to the back.

The doors open to reveal a fully fitted interior with the right hand side door fitted with a walnut framed ceramic writing slate the left-hand door with a memo panel for cards, notes etc. The box retains it's two quality inkwells.

The top has a hinged lid where the perpetual calendar cards are kept. An outstanding heirloom quality box in superb condition and dating to around 1880.
