We are pleased to offer for sale this relatively large Arts & Crafts Brass Box and Key, which, in our opinion, was made by a member of the Glasgow School. It is unsigned, but apparently much of the work of the The Gilmour Studio was unmarked, although we are not attributing it to either Margaret or Mary Gilmour. Howwever it is in their style.

The box is lined in mahogany. It has a planished lid, apart from the centre of the celtic circle decorated with stylised roses, leaves and crosses in the centre. It has two decorative straps across the top on either side of the central motif. The key appears to be the original decorative one and the lock is in full working order.

Length: 11" - 28cm

Depth: 5" - 12.7cm

Height: 2 1/2" - 6.35cm

Materials: Brass & mahogany

Condition: Very good. There are a couple of small dents to the lid, as shown. Otherwise it is in really good condition, with only minimal wear consistent with use and age.
