Georgian Mahogany Low Gentleman's Press

Stunning Quality 18th-century George III Period Mahogany Gentleman's Low Press Cupboard
A substantial, handsome piece of useful antique furniture. A George III period mahogany Gentleman's low press attributed to Gillows. The rectangular moulded top above a pair of flame mahogany panelled centre doors with beading enclosing two tray shelves, the sides each with a bank of five graduated mahogany lined drawers with original turned brass handles, on turned feet. The construction and overall appearance is very much in the Gillows style. Beautiful patina. Sturdy, strong and ready to use! English Country House look! Over time, the mahogany has developed a wonderful patina that highlights the depth and warmth of the timber, a hallmark of pieces from this era. Traditionally, linen presses were designed for storing sheets, clothing, and textiles, and examples from the 18th century are highly prized for their superior cabinet work, classic design, and exquisite use of materials. This low linen press is not only a testament to exceptional craftsmanship but also a striking centrepiece for any home that values history and quality. This Georgian mahogany linen press is designed for both beauty and practicality, coming apart in five sections for easy transport and installation.
