Georgian Antique Oak Welsh Bread & Cheese Cupboard
Georgian Antique Oak Welsh Bread & Cheese Cupboard.
This is a very honest and original, North Walian antique oak cupboard, first made and used for the storage and keeping of simple daily ingredients, bread and cheese.
Made in two pieces, this antique food cupboard is traditionally made using the pegged method and it has panelled sides.
Dating from 1800 and from Caernafonshire, the antique food cupboard is known in Welsh as cwpwrdd barra caws.
The wonderful deep oak colour and finish is very original, the top section of this food cupboard features vented panel sections, this is so the food inside can breathe.
The base has two drawers over two cupboards, all have the original brass knob handles and ebony inlaid, diamond shaped eschuteons.
This is a lovely and tidy example of a Georgian antique bread and cheese / food cupboard, made in lovely proportions, now in Miles Griffiths antiques showrooms.
