George V Silver Sovereign Case, H.H, B'ham, 1913

1 of 6
This is a smart George V Sterling Silver Sovereign Case. The case is of the snap lock type, circular in shape with a bush button clasp, a hinge and an internal spring to keep the coin in place. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The sovereign case is made in Birmingham and dates to 1913. The maker is just identified as H H and his or her mark is only ever seen on sovereign cases and vesta cases. They were active between around 1900 and 1915.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and just a couple of scratches on one side plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The sovereign case is 4.6cm / 1.8ins from the hinge to the jump ring, 3cm / 1.2ins across and 0.8cm / 0.31ins deep. It weighs in at 13.7g / 0.48oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The full set of hallmarks, on the inside rim, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter o for 1913 and the H H makers' mark. In addition there are lion passant stamps for Sterling Silver on the upper half of the body and the jump ring to show that this is Sterling Silver throughout.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the sovereign case.
