George V Silver Horseshoe Pendant, B'ham, 1932
This is a fun George V Sterling Silver Lucky Horseshoe Pendant on a 16 inch silver chain. This would be a perfect good luck gift or ideal for a keen equestrian.
The pendant is made in Birmingham by jeweller and silversmith Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd and dates to 1932. Founded around 1890 and based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter, Henry Griffith & Sons produced a range of silver antique jewellery items and small pieces of personal silverware up until the late 1970s.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after 90 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pendant is 2.3cm by 2.4cm and weighs 4.5g. The chain is 40cm / 16ins long.
The hallmarks on the back of the horseshoe are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter H for 1932 and the H.G & S makers' mark for Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd. In addition there is a registered design number of 761012, which dates the original design to 1931/32.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
