Here we have an exquisite large George V Sterling Silver Hand Mirror from the 1920s. The back of the mirror has an embossed design of multiple flowers with a central blank cartouche surrounded by scrolls. The design is repeated on the front of the handle and there is a narrow garland of flowers framing the circular bevelled mirror.

The hand mirror was made in Birmingham by the Daniel Manufacturing Company and dates to 1926. The Daniel Manufacturing Company was founded in Birmingham in 1912. They specialised in silver mounted dressing table items such as perfume bottles, powder bowls, brushes, hand mirrors, dressing table pots and powder compacts. They ceased trading in the late 1950s.

Condition is very good, with just one truly tiny ding in the cartouche on the back plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. It has seen nearly 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The hand mirror is of substantial size, measuring 28.5cm / 11.2ins from top to bottom and 15.5cm / 6.1ins across. It weighs in at 485g / 17.1oz.

The hallmarks, just above and to the right of the cartouche, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter B for 1925 and the D M Co makers' mark for the Daniel Manufacturing Company.
